Vyndaqel (tafamidis) Approved in EU to Combat Rare Disease

Vyndaqel (tafamidis) was approved in the European Union in November 2011 for the treatment of transthyretin familial amyloid polyneuropathy (TTR-FAP) in adult patients with stage 1 symptomatic polyneuropathy. This approval represents a major advance as Vyndaqel is the first and only medication to delay neurologic impairment for patients suffering from this rare, progressive and nearly always fatal neurodegenerative disease, estimated to affect 8,000 people worldwide.

First Virtual Clinical Trial

Launched Pfizer's first-ever virtual trial using mobile and Web-based technology to collect data from remote locations. The pilot debuted in California and will eventually expand to include 600 patients in remote locations across 10 states in the U.S. It is designed to assess the safety and efficacy of Detrol LA, a treatment for overactive bladder.
