Pfizer Hosts Annual Meeting of Shareholders
Declares 30-Cent Second-Quarter 2016 Dividend
The board of directors of Pfizer Inc. today declared a 30-cent second-quarter 2016 dividend on the company’s common stock, payable June 1, 2016, to shareholders of record at the close of business on May 13, 2016. The second-quarter 2016 cash dividend will be the 310th consecutive quarterly dividend paid by Pfizer.
“In 2015, we returned nearly $13.1 billion to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases,” said Ian Read, chairman and chief executive officer. “In 2016, we continue to enhance shareholder value through our dividend increase announced in December 2015 and our accelerated share repurchase program executed in March 2016. In addition, we remain focused on strengthening our innovative and established businesses, and advancing our commercial and late-stage pipeline, while maintaining the financial flexibility to pursue attractive business development and other shareholder friendly capital allocation opportunities.”
Preliminary results from the Annual Meeting of Shareholders held today indicate that the company’s 11 director nominees were re-elected to one-year terms and that shareholders ratified the selection of KPMG LLP as Pfizer’s independent registered public accounting firm for the 2016 fiscal year. In addition, shareholders voted in support of the board-sponsored proposal to approve, on an advisory basis, the compensation of the company’s named executive officers.
In other voting, four shareholder proposals were not approved by the shareholders.
The final results are subject to verification by the independent election inspectors. The final results will be reported on a Form 8-K to be filed by Pfizer with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the next few days.
