The Stars Come Out for Pfizer-Sponsored “Divas Simply Singing!” Benefit Concert
Health and science aren’t always the most glamorous work, but sometimes we get to rub shoulders with celebrities when the stars come out in support of important health issues.
That’s what happened earlier this month, when Pfizer’s Vaccine Adoption and Equity team sponsored the 33rd Sheryl Lee Ralph & the DIVA Foundation Presents: DIVAS Simply Singing! benefit concert.
For over three decades, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Emmy Award Winning star of the hit ABC show, Abbot Elementary, has hosted the DIVAS Simply Singing! Raising Health Awareness benefit concert. The show is produced by Oscar-nominee Sharon Stone, and had support, appearances, and performances from Hollywood’s brightest stars including Jordin Sparks, Tina Knowles, and Jennifer Hudson.
Pfizer’s Vaccine Adoption and Equity (VAE) team was proud to sponsor the event as part of their mission to promote fair and just access to vaccination through education. As part of Pfizer’s larger efforts to broaden access to healthcare and bring breakthroughs that change patients’ lives to every corner of the globe, VAE’s efforts to drive vaccine equity focus on underserved communities.
Pfizer believes all patients deserve to have equal access to healthcare and accessible, affordable drugs and believe everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and respected for who they are, and those efforts begin with education and awareness. The VAE team strives for healthcare education that acknowledges and addresses systemic barriers, strengthened by trusted and enduring partnerships with community-based organizations.
That mission lines up perfectly with the goals of the DIVAS Foundation, which are centered across five pillars: health awareness, women and girls, LGBTQ+, social justice and racial equity, and food and housing insecurity.
“Addressing health disparities through education is at the core of the Vaccine Adoption and Equity team's mission, and our goal is to strengthen our impact through enduring partnerships with trusted messengers,” said Obi Ibekweh, Director, Team Lead, Vaccine Adoption & Equity. “This is a great example of that, beginning with our Essence partnership earlier this year featuring Ms. Sheryl Lee Ralph in a panel discussion on health, wellness, and the importance of vaccination as part of a regular health care routine. I am proud to be part of a team that demonstrates Pfizer's commitment to health equity in innovative and culturally relevant ways.”
The DIVAS Simply Singing! Benefit concert is a fabulous way to promote the cause and provide entertainment from some of Hollywood’s most talented performers. For the first time since going virtual in 2020, the concert was filmed in front of a live audience at Los Angeles's Wilshire Ebell Theatre and is now available to watch on Hulu.
