Pfizer’s 4th Latino Summit Champions Latino Representation
In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 through October 15 of 2024), Pfizer’s Latino Community Colleague Resource Group holds its annual Latino Summit. This year’s 4th annual Summit was held at Pfizer’s New York City headquarters on Wednesday, September 25th.
The summit’s theme was "Deep Roots, Bold Vision” and was focused on speaking to the importance of the Latino community’s strong cultural foundation and forwarding-looking aspirations as professionals. Hosted by Daniel Viquez, Senior Director, Delivery Team Lead, Global and Jennifer Medina Matsuki, Marketing Community Program Lead, the Summit featured speakers, interactive sessions, and opening remarks from CRG sponsor, and Pfizer’s Chief Digital and Technology Officer, and Executive Vice President, Lidia Fonseca.
“For many years, I told myself that I was living a life I was never supposed to have. Remember that you belong, and you have earned your place. And do it again the next day.”
After Lidia’s inspiring words, new CRG lead Rodrigo Puga, Senior Vice President, Internal Medicine, US Business Lead, kicked off the summit by sharing the accomplishments of the CRG’s various chapters within Pfizer’s workplaces around the country and championing Latino representation inside Pfizer and the healthcare industry.
Colleagues then participated in multiple workshops and sessions built around the new 4C initiative. The 4C model focuses on Culture, Career, Community, and Commerce and is designed to build on our strong foundations, while fostering professional growth within our CRG and larger Pfizer community.
“I want to express my gratitude to all our members, both in person and online, for your support and engagement,” Rodrigo said. “I'm excited to see the ongoing collaboration within our community. If you're interested in playing a larger role in the success of our CRGs and initiatives, please visit our community website to explore how you can contribute to our growth and impact. And as we celebrate our "Deep Roots and Bold Vision," let’s remember the words of Sonia Sotomayor: our roots keep us grounded, while our aspirations propel us forward.
Pfizer’s Latino CRG is one of several internal groups aligned with our goal to foster diversity and inclusion. Our CRGs are designed to create an open, encouraging environment where everyone can be their authentic selves and everyone has a forum to use their voice. They provide opportunities for bonding and growth throughout the year, via relevant speakers and workshops, such as the Latino Summit, and create affirming and supportive virtual spaces for employees who belong to underrepresented groups and their allies.
Other CRGs include Global Back Community, Global Asian Alliance, OPEN (LGBTQIA+), POWER (Women), Veterans in Pfizer, and disAbility and Caregivers Network. Across Europe, Pfizer’s Diversity and Exclusion Council, Europe (DICE) has established 27 CRGs which have reached over 7,000 employees in 14 countries since 2017.
