EHS Program Highlights

  • In 2006, IChemE once again recognized Pfizer for Green Chemistry practices for Lyrica® and Vfend®. Lyrica® won the top European GC Award — the Excellence in Green Chemistry and Engineering Award, and Vfend® was a finalist for the Faraday Award.
  • Pfizer facilities were awarded numerous recognitions in 2006 including the third successive Missouri Water Environmental Association "Gold Star Certificate" for pretreatment achievements by our St. Louis R&D facility and the prestigious National Award from the Irish National Safety Organization to our Ireland-based manufacturing sites.
  • The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) located in New Haven, was designed with green building principles integrated through all stages of the project. The CRU was awarded Silver LEED™ Certification by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the first such designation for a building in Connecticut.
  • As an example of habitat conservation throughout our facilities, our Kalamazoo, Michigan site has achieved program recertification from the Wildlife Habitat Council, which said of our colleagues — "the efforts of the employees at the Kalamazoo Manufacturing site, particularly in the continued development of the nest box, pollinator, invasive species, woodland management, and public outreach programs have been truly exceptional."
  • Pfizer continues to partner with global and local environmental organizations including the Alliance to Conserve the Maya Forest. This Alliance has been promoting sustainable growth and conservation in the Maya Forest, the second largest rainforest in the Americas after the Amazon.
  • 2006 marked the completion of Pfizer´s second year using 30% post-consumer content recycled paper as the preferred paper for all US-based operations.
