Meet Pat's Relatives

Sometimes people ask why we would invent Pat when there are other medicines like him. Why make another blood pressure drug or another drug to treat diabetes? Why not just focus on finding new cures for diseases that have no treatments? The answer is that while we look for new cures, we also need to improve the medicines we have now. Scientists have found that drugs do not act the same way in each person. One drug may not act the same way in you as it does in your neighbor, or your mother, or your child. That's where Pat's relatives come in. If there are drug choices, your doctor will be more likely to find the right treatment for you.

More choices also help control prices. Patients get better prices when drugs compete with each other. This is good for consumers.
